Midsummer bonfires: the May Day flower wreaths are burned and the brave leap the flames for luck, then music, dancing, souma and local food.
Rooted in ancient pre-Christian solstice fire and divination rites, later merged with the feast of St John. Jumping the fire is said to drive away evil spirits.
